ANNIE TO OPEN AT FINE ARTS CENTER THEATER APRIL 8

Silver City, NM – Annie, one of the most successful theater productions of all time, will
open at the Western New Mexico University Fine Arts Center Theater April 8.

The musical will run for one weekend only, treating theater-goers to the well-known songs
and storyline. Based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the
story depicts the life of 11 year-old Annie. The play features musical songs “Tomorrow”
and “It’s the Hard-Knock Life.”

Opening night is Friday, April 8 at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday, April 9 showing at
7:30 p.m. and a final performance on Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m.

WNMU students and community members make up the actors who will perform
alongside a live orchestra.

Annie is directed by associate professor Anne Marie Elder and Antonio Zapata is the
musical director. The production is presented by the WNMU Expressive Arts Department
and Theater Group New Mexico.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and free to WNMU students with I.D.
Advanced tickets maybe purchased at local businesses Alotta Gelato, Curious Kumquat
and W&N Enterprises.
