DIRECTOR FOR ALUMNI AFFAIRS OFFICE

(Job Code 469/Full-Time/Exempt)

RESPONSIBILITIES: Works under the general direction and supervision of the Office of Institutional Advancement as a part of the Institutional Advancement Team and under the purposes as set forth in the Alumni Charter. This position will work towards the common goals of building relationships with alumni, the Alumni Association, and pride in WNMU. As the Director of the WNMU Alumni Affairs, serves as ambassador to external WNMU constituencies by providing supervision and coordination of alumni involvement in the planning and implementation of comprehensive programs.  Organizes alumni activities, events, relationship building, and services. Organizes and coordinates an effective alumni membership recruitment and renewal program. Develops, sustains, and strengthens alumni chapters nationwide. Assists with the organization and ongoing work of Alumni Association and its standing committees. Participates, in coordination with the Alumni Board and Institutional Advancement, in fund raising activities. Identifies, cultivates, and stewards alumni donors in coordination with Institutional Advancement and volunteers. Manages alumni records, databases, and reporting. Plans, coordinates, and attends special events, including alumni and volunteer recognition banquets, receptions, meetings, and reunions. Collaborates with other University offices in homecoming, Great Race, commencement, parades, and other events and with groups such as the Ambassadors. Develops and maintains technology-based tools to include the alumni email distribution list, the WNMU Alumni web site, and online social networks. Represents the Alumni Association and WNMU at various community and/or business meetings. Supervises, coordinates, and trains students, interns, and volunteers to work on events, projects and programs; ensures an appropriate volunteer base. Develops and maintains avenues of communication to University alumni; oversees and coordinates the development and publication of written and on-line/web-based material for alumni. Serves on University committees relating to the Office of Alumni Affairs. Monitors, verifies, and reconciles the Office of Alumni’s budget; and performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with 1 to 2 years work experience related to the duties and responsibilities specified including some supervisory experience and communication skills. Possess excellent personal computer skills. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to work with multiple constituencies and understand the culture of a university.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS: WNMU graduate. Experience in managing budgets, creating publications, recruiting, motivating, and managing volunteers, marketing an organization, and working with a volunteer board of directors. Proficiency in Spanish and experience with diverse groups.
